After Care Program

Welcome to David Lawrence Jr. K - 8 Center. I know that this will be an exciting and productive year. Our school is not only a place to teach children but a learning center for the entire community because learning is lifelong. By extending services beyond the traditional K - 12 hours, we are improving student learning, building stronger families, and promoting healthier communities.

Our program provides three types of child care services: before school care, story hour and after school care. The program offers a variety of academic enhancement and enrichment activities. They include: homework assistance, indoor and outdoor games, music, and arts and crafts. They managers of the program supervise activity leaders that have been screened by Miami-Dade County Public Schools to work directly with children in small groups. All activity leaders are required to receive a minimum of 45 hours of state certified training. Our highly trained and dedicated activity leaders are ready and willing to work with your child to see that he/she is well informed and supported, regarding the planned arts, crafts, physical education, and educational activities. However, when his/her attempts to support your child fail to lead your child in abiding by the Guidelines for Students Behavior, the following measure will be taken.
